It’s been an intense week (aren’t they all).
Today let’s pause and reflect. We have much to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

A turkey to serve cranberry sauce. Perfect.

Poor guy – Cryogenic freezing (looks pretty frozen to me)? Where do you put him the rest of the year???
And a happy thanksgiving to the
whole Soapbox family from our
family in (shudder) FordTario.
You’re right – we are thankful to
live in Canada!! 🇨🇦
Thank you Liane. And a happy thanksgiving to you and your family. In a related note, our wanna-be premier invited your premier to a rally last week–turkeys everywhere.
Rocky: he’s an inexpensive glass serving dish. I’ve had him for years. He used to freak out my youngest daughter who thought he was headless, but if you look closely you can see his eyes. 🙂
🙂
Hmm and I thought I was the “turkey” that served the cranberry sauce in my house! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Linda, the person who puts the turkey dinner together is a goddess (or god in our household)…never the turkey. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Happy Thanksgiving Susan and the rest of those who read your column. Thanks for putting up with us.
You’re very welcome Ed. Thanks for being one of the Soapbox “regulars”…Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours …
Thank you jerrymacgp: And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well.
(It’s great hearing from all the Soapbox “regulars” today).
As an aside, the whole concept of Thanksgiving makes you think; to whom is this gratitude directed? Of course, for those of a religious bent, the answer is obvious: the deity or deities at the core of their faith. But for the non-religious, the question is less easily answered. If you don’t believe in a sentient higher power, who are you giving Thanks to?
However, we are fortunate in this country to live in a largely peaceful, safe, secure and prosperous society, and if nothing else, we can thank each other, both our family and close friends, and our fellow citizens, for that. My wife I, for one, are also thankful that our grandchildren’s parents still live in the same city as we do, so we get to see them a lot. (As someone once said, grandchildren are your reward for not strangling your teenagers lol … ).
Jerry: I like you the way you put that, when we thank each other we reinforce the fact that it is due to the efforts of ALL of us, not just some of us, that we are able to live in peace and relative prosperity here in Canada.
Your last sentence made me smile. It sounds like you, your children and your grandchildren have the opportunity to celebrate many special occasions together. You are very fortunate indeed.
THANKSGIVING | “Everyone has a purpose in life and a unique talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” – Kallam Anji Reddy |
Leo, what a lovely sentiment! I hope you and your loved ones had a happy Thanksgiving. I know you’re doing amazing work with Community Networks. You and your organization epitomize why we all should be thankful this year. All the best.
Happy Thanksgiving Susan, thank you for not writing a column on Kavanaugh and SCOTUS, I have had all I can take of that! Jim

Jim, I know what you mean! The onslaught of news and reactions to news and reactions to reactions to news can be overwhelming. It’s nice to take a time-out and share good wishes with your friends. So let me share this with you: Happy Thanksgiving Jim!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours – enjoy!
Thank you Carol and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well. I don’t know if it’s just me but this Thanksgiving feels more significant than the ones in the past.
There is so much happening in the world that I think it brings more significance to pretty much everything. And giving thanks is always significant, right? Have a great day and a wonderful week.
Susan: Hope you and your loved ones have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you Dwayne. We had two Thanksgiving celebrations, one here at home with just the family and another with the family of close friends. It was wonderful. I hope you and your loved ones had a Happy Thanksgiving as well. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone
Happy Thanksgiving Carlos. It was nice to take a break from the strum und drang for a weekend wasn’t it. Next week we’ll dive back in to discuss the things that trouble us, but this week Soapbox readers, especially the “regulars” like you, deserve a little rest. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Susan!
I’m grateful for all the good work you do.
All the best,
Mare
“If you’re going to be passionate about something, be passionate about learning. If you’re going to fight something, fight for those in need. If you’re going to question something, question authority. If you’re going to lose something, lose your inhibitions. If you’re going to gain something, gain respect and confidence. And if you’re going to hate something, hate the false idea that you are not capable of your dreams.”

Thank you Mare! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I love the Golston quote at the end of your note, it reminds me of you. All the best.
Happy Thanksgiving … and thank you for giving! :~)
