Happy Thanksgiving!
This is a quick note to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
The Soapbox family celebrated as it always does with dear friends, our daughters and their partners, and a big fat turkey with all the fixings. The conversation around the table was lively, far ranging and polite. The evening was wonderful.

Other friends celebrated with their own non-traditional Thanksgiving dinners: one family opted for Chinese food and another chose Mexican. The beauty of these choices is they too become traditions if you do them more than once.
I hope your Thanksgiving celebration was wonderful and if you have any unusual traditions I’d be delighted if you shared them here on the Soapbox.
All the very best,
Susan

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday to celebrate with family and friends, no matter what you choose as the main course. There are so many things to be thankful for and I am glad to hear you had a great celebration.
Thanks Rose, as you said the best part of the day is spending it with family and friends.
🙂
Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you all! We had our lovely family join us for turkey dinner and talked about how lucky and thankful we are that we have what we do!
Linda, you make a good point. Sometimes we forget just how many things we have that we can be thankful for. I’m glad you had a wonderful celebration.
Susan: Thanks for this Thanksgiving greeting. I hope your husband is doing well. I went out early for Thanksgiving, and I had great food. I’ll share some more nice music. This is a Jimmy Page composition, from his time in Led Zeppelin. It was recorded in the early 1970s, and was released on Led Zeppelin’s 1975 album, Physical Graffiti. This is Bron – Yr – Aur. I have this in my music collection.
Dwayne, I’m glad you had a nice Thanksgiving too. And yes, my husband is doing well. All set up with cardio rehab etc so things are looking good.
That was a lovely clip of music. As I looked at the album I wondered who that fellow on the left was, the guy sitting on the steps, and where he is now.
Susan: Here is my next music pick. This is from Booker T & The MGs, and it is called Hip Hug – Her. It was recorded and released in 1967. It was composed by band members, Steve Cropper, Donald “Duck” Dunn, Booker T. Jones and Al Jackson Jr. I have this in my music collection, and I did see Booker T. Jones live and met him.
Dwayne, I loved the album cover. It brought back fond memories! How nice that you were able to meet Booker T Jones. Very exciting.
Oh and here’s a random piece of information. When I met my husband-to-be he drove an MG. I managed to drive it up on to a median once. It got stuck and I thought that might be the end of our relationship, but my then boyfriend (now husband) forgave me. 🙂
Susan: That album cover reminds me of those old Eaton’s catalogs. Steve Cropper and Donald “Duck” Dunn were in The Blues Brothers movie.
Dwayne, I remember the old Eaton’s and Sear’s (or was it Simpson Sears?) catalogs. When I was small we lived in Saskatchewan and lived for the day the Christmas Wish book arrived.
Hi Susan
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. The fact that you are celebrating, tells me your Husband is ok which is great news.
Enjoy
Hi Carlos, yes, you’re right, Roy is doing very well. Despite all the flack the UCP government is throwing at our healthcare system, the staff at the Foothills took excellent care of him. That they continue to work under these conditions is astounding. I hope your Thanksgiving was filled with friends and family too.
All the best,
Susan
Glad to hear everyone is well! We had a very unusual Thanksgiving meal – airline food (yecchhh). We flew to Milan in the late afternoon and started a three week vacation in north Italy!! Happy thanksgiving everyone!
Well, Liane, you’ve got us all beat. I too would eat airline food if it meant a trip to Milan and northern Italy. I love Italy. The people are lovely and the food is fabulous. I’m sure you will have a fantastic time!
Hi:
Susan thought that cooked turkey was Pierrr Pollliboy after his constipation Pary got mad at him for his outragesous THE DONALD style.
Anyone yet scared that THE ONALD dictator will be elected ?
They should be as we are here.Hope you-fmily had a great Thanksgiving wiut indigestion.
Kindly
Gord-Peterboro ON
Gord: I think we’re all worried that Donald might get elected. What’s even more alarming is the misguided beliefs of those who vote for him.
Susan: My comments seem to disappear after I post them, and I’m not sure why.
Susan: I can’t leave comments, and I don’t know why that is happening.
Susan: I can’t leave comments, and I don’t know why that is.
Hi Dwayne – this has happened to me as well. I just waited and tried again. I do not believe Word Press knows how to fix these bugs in the system.
By the way you just came in time for the new environment slogan for the Conservatives – SCRAP THE CAP
I am sure Pierre Poilievre will be happy to get a new one as his plan is looking basically non-existent.
Conservative Environment Plan
SCRAP THE CAP – AXE THE TAX – DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING – CLIMATE CHANGE IS A HOAX created by Greta to annoy the conspiracy world.
Carlos, a friend of mind offered the following three word anti-PP slogan: SCRAP THE CRAP. I think it’s apropos.
While we celebrate Thanksgiving the Conservatives stay silent on every possible way. No words on environment, no words on treason, no words on nothing is Pierre Poilievre’s platform.
Say nothing and the illiterate will vote for you.

He does not even want to know the facts on this one because after all he has coffee with White Nationalists and people that believe the US should invade Canada and take us out of our misery.
All I can say is that I hope sooner or later this castle of Conservative cards just falls flat or we will be done.
Carlos, you raise a very interesting point. Why has PP refused to apply for security clearance? Is it because once he sees the report and discovers who in his caucus have been influenced by foreign governments he’ll have to take action and he doesn’t want to do that. My god, even Elizabeth May was vetted and her party is tiny, but if she’s going to be effective in the House she has to have all the information. Apparently PP would rather bluster from the sidelines. It’s very unfortunate that Canadians aren’t calling him out for this.
The UCP is doing very well in one front alone – DO WHAT ALBERTANS DO NOT WANT
We understand that is what Parker wants and so no Biggy
https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/alberta-bill-20-municipal-political-parties
80 % said NOPE no parties in municipal elections – Parker says YES
80% said NOPE to dismantle AHS – Parker says YES
What a JOKE this all is.
Calros, the list of policies the UCP is implementing that are not supported by the majority of Albertans, starting with the big one dropping out of CPP, is mind boggling.
Still not able to comment. Odd.
Dwayne, I can see this comment and the one you made about the album covers. For the life of me I don’t know what is going on.
Dwayne, I don’t know why some of your comments are coming through…like this one and others are not. I’ll try to poke around, but like you I’m finding WordPress more and more frustrating. .
Susan: I will post another comment I wanted to post before, right after I post this one.
Dwayne, thanks…hopefully it will come through. I just went through a system update and everything is wonky (which is par for the course!)
